周四，俄罗斯国家统计局的数据和路透社的计算显示，俄罗斯已经超过巴西，从而成为世界上仅次于美国的新冠肺炎大流行死亡人数第二多的国家。
俄罗斯国家统计局（Rosstat）表示，11月已有87527人死于与新冠状病毒相关的疾病，这是自大流行开始以来该国死亡人数最多的一个月。
根据路透社根据俄国家统计局截至11月底的数据以及新冠状病毒特别工作组12月的数据，俄罗斯的大流行死亡人数已经达到65.8634万人，超过了巴西的61.88万人。
据路透社的计算，美国的死亡人数更高，为825663人，但其人口是俄罗斯的两倍多。
路透社的计算还显示，自2020年4月疫情爆发至今年11月底，俄罗斯的死亡人数比2015-2019年的平均死亡人数多83.5万人。
一些流行病学家表示，计算额外死亡人数是评估流行病真正影响的最好方法。
到目前为止，俄罗斯的死亡人数主要是由10月和11月的感染激增造成的，还没有受到Omicron变种的影响，卫生当局将其归咎于Delta变种和疫苗接种推广缓慢。
周四，俄罗斯当局已经命令医院为可能出现的新冠肺炎病例激增做好准备。
