丹麦计划在科索沃租用300间监狱牢房，以安置刑期临近届满的囚犯。
司法部表示，这些牢房将被用于关押那些服刑后需要被驱逐出境的外国囚犯。
丹麦政府于本周三提出的这项新计划旨在缓解监狱人满为患的状况。
该项目还计划在2022年至2025年期间，将丹麦监狱系统的容量增加326间。
去年，丹麦监狱约有350名囚犯需要在服刑期满后被驱逐出境。
到2021年初，丹麦的监狱人数增长了19%，达到4000多人。根据国家统计数据，丹麦监狱目前已达到100%的容量。
司法部长Nick Haekkerup 在一份声明中说：“到2025年，我们的监狱系统将短缺多达1000个牢房。”
“通过这项协议，双方同意在科索沃租用300间牢房，并将丹麦的监狱容量扩大数百间。”
丹麦以其开放式监狱而闻名，这些监狱专门为刑期在5年以下的囚犯所设置。
与此同时，根据伦敦大学的世界监狱简报，科索沃目前有1642名囚犯。
挪威和比利时以前也曾在荷兰租用过监狱牢房。
