一名调查人员周三告诉记者，在谷歌地图应用程序的帮助下，意大利警方抓获了一名逃逸近20年的黑手党高层的逃犯。
经过两年的调查，警方在离西班牙首都马德里不远的加拉帕加尔（Galapagar）捕获了使用假名生活在那里的61岁的Gioacchino Gammino。
谷歌地图的一张街景照片显示，在一家水果店前站着一名酷似他的男子，这一发现是引发更深入调查的关键。
意大利反黑手党警察部门（DIA）副主任Nicola Altiero说：“这张照片帮助我们确认了我们正在以传统方式进行的调查。”
Gammino是西西里黑手党组织斯蒂达（Stidda）的成员，2002年从罗马热比比亚监狱逃脱，2003年因数年前犯下的谋杀罪被判处终身监禁。
Nicola Altiero说，Gammino目前被羁押在西班牙，他们希望在2月底将其押解回意大利。
