以色列卫生部周日表示，为60岁以上的人接种第四剂COVID-19疫苗后，其对严重疾病的抵抗力是同年龄段接种第三针疫苗者的三倍。
该国卫生部还说，与接种第三剂疫苗的60岁以上的人群相比，为同一年龄组的人接种第四剂疫苗也就是第二剂加强针，可使其对感染的抵抗力提高两倍。
以色列Sheba 医疗中心上周一发表的一项初步研究发现，第四针的抗体水平比第三针更高，不过，尽管如此，仍然“很可能”无法完全抵御高度传染性的Omicron变种。
本月早些时候，随着Omicron变种席卷全国，以色列开始向60岁以上的人提供第四剂辉瑞 / BioNtech疫苗。
以色列卫生部于周日表示，这项研究是由以色列几所主要大学和Sheba医疗中心共同开展的，研究人员将40万名接受第二剂加强针的60岁以上老年人与4个多月前接受第三剂疫苗注射的60万名老年人进行了比较。
与其他国家一样，由于Omicron变种的影响，以色列的新冠肺炎病例在不断上升，但该国迄今没有死于这种变种的患者记录。
