M党相信瑞典有很多人有能力从事低技能的工作，所以该党希望能停止从欧盟外雇佣低技能的劳工。
M 党认为，这一举措有助于打击与劳工移民相关的欺诈和其他犯罪，同时也有助于消除瑞典的外国出生人口的高失业率现象。
根据瑞典M党有关人士的说法，衡量一份工作是否属于低技能，新的标准应该是薪资水平，每年瑞典国家统计局都会公布不同职业的平均收入水平和状况，按照统计局公布的数字，当前瑞典的月平均工资为3.17万克朗，外国劳工只有工资水平高于3.17万瑞典克朗的，才符合工作签证的基本标准。当然，根据欧盟的有关法律，季节性工作不在此限。
M党的这一议案已经提交给瑞典国会社会保险委员会。
根据瑞典媒体SVT 报道，瑞典M党的议案受到了服务行业雇主工会Almega的尖锐批评。该组织认为，这一议案将使许多服务行业的招聘雪上加霜。该工会组织首席经济学家Patrick Joyce表示，如此高的工资要求意味着一些行业将无法从欧盟以外的国家和地区招聘雇佣。此外，即使是一些紧缺职业，也很难满足如此高的工资要求。他补充说，外国出生人口的高失业率现象不是由劳工移民所致，而是由于不完善的融合政策和福利制度。
